Electrification of KSSS Pass Boat Häftig Featuring ePropulsion I-20 Inboard & G Batteries

ePropulsion converted the KSSS pass boat Häftig, known as Baljan, into an electric vessel with twin I-20 inboards, 4 x G102 batteries, and a 15 kW charger for transporting guests in the Stockholm archipelago. Operating a fixed route of over 1 NM between three piers, Baljan runs one trip per hour. In its first season, the boat achieved 273 hours of operation, covered over 600 NM, and saved 900 liters of diesel, reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 2.4 tons.

Integrated with boating IoT

ePropulsion Connectivity Service is a value-added service enabling boat owners and fleet managers to communicate with their boats securely and reliably. It allows users to access cloud-based connectivity services without the need for additional accessories.
Remote data access

You can check all real-time data, such as location, speed, battery level, remaining charging time, etc.

Remote monitoring

Notify users when boats break geofences, exceed speed limits and have suspicious location changes.

Trip tracking

Automatically create boating trips with route playback and trip log.

Shared accounts

Invite other people to share access to real-time status, past activities and reports.

Guest authorization

Remotely authorize guests to power on and operate ePropulsion system with limited permissions.

Report generation

Automatically create boat reports and fleet reports to summarise all boating activities.

FAQ

No. The E series battery voltage is 48V and cannot be used with the 96V eSSA products.
  • No, the third-party batteries cannot power I-Series motor.

  • The motors cannot receive real-time battery data or implement optimal performance strategies with non-ePropulsion batteries.

  • Our eSSA system is specifically engineered to monitor and manage all system components seamlessly. With third-party batteries, the system cannot respond to battery events, forcing reliance on the battery’s own power management.  This creates unpredictable effects on motor performance and safety.

  • While third-party batteries may technically meet the 96V platform requirement, they cannot guarantee safe system integration and risk management.

Yes, it is designed for extensive use in the saltwater. We choose high-quality aluminum alloy as the base material, and apply anodizing coating and powder coating on top of it.

ePropulsion’s I Series motors are relatively low maintenance compared to traditional combustion engines. However, there are still a few key things to keep in mind:
Battery Care: To maximize battery lifespan, avoid fully depleting it regularly. It’s recommended to charge the battery when it drops to about 20-30% capacity.
Cleaning: After use in saltwater, any exposed parts with fresh water to remove salt and debris.
Check for Wear: Periodically check the propeller, battery, and motor for any signs of wear or damage.

Yes, ePropulsion offers various accessories to enhance the functionality of the I Series motors, including:
External Batteries: For extended range and longer trips.
Battery Chargers: Fast chargers and standard chargers.
Mounting Brackets: For different boat configurations.
Control Systems: Handheld remotes or control panels to monitor battery life, speed, and performance.

The I-10 is air cooled.
The I-20 and I-40 are both water cooled and have the option for air cooling as well.
